Three prolific New York-born Tin Pan Alley songwriters and future Songwriters Hall of Famers collaborated on this number for the Irving Berlin company. Sam M. Lewis (1885-1959) had his first hit in 1912 with "That Mellow Melody." He teamed with Joe Young in 1916 and remained his partner until 1930. Joe Young (1889-1939) had toured Europe during World War I, entertaining troops as a singer. He wrote his first major hit, "Don't Blame it all on Broadway," in 1914.
