London, England: Priestley and Weale, 1824. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. A scarce edition offered despite its condition. Octavo, 8" tall, xxxvi + 320 pages, plain boards (as first published). A previous owner's signature penned on front endpaper. In fair condition overall, the interior being very good, paper clean and only lightly yellowed. But the original binding is broken and signatures disbound, most of the backstrip missing; the worn and soiled cover boards are loose and binding threads broken. However, because of the good condition of the paper, this scarce volume could be rebound. Priced accordingly.

"This catalogue has been printed by Mourlot in Paris for David B. Findlay at the occasion of the Artist's First Exhibition in the United States......The six lithographs are original works by Minaux, which have been specially engraved for this catalog. Paris 1962.

A very good minus over all, generally clean, sturdy hard cover first English edition with significant shelf wear and rubbing at the corners, fore-corners rubbed through to boards, back strip leather frayed at the top and bottom edges, titles rubbed away, spine rubbed at hinges with leather cracking but secure; internal hinges solid, binding tight paper lightly yellowed, with a 'discard' stamp (no other designation) on the front endpaper.

A good, generally clean, neat hard cover with minor shelf wear, BUT for city-soot soiling to the exterior boards, binding solid, paper light to moderately yellowed with foxing to the fore-edges and endpaper gutters and occasional soiling to the page margins. Without dust jacket if issued. This copy has a four page saddle stitched brochure about the artist with English text by Isaac Lichtenstein and also signed by Abraham Walkowitz. The cover sheet of the brochure is soiled at the bottom margin, signed at the top above the title. The wire saddle stitch is rusting.

A good copy overall, generally clean but shelf worn, hinges cracked, front cover loosening at the hinge, fore-corner tips worn through to boards, marbling faded, worn and stained,; internal binding tight, paper just lightly yellowed with a damp stain to the bottom margins of the frontmatter not affecting text or illustration. Engraved plates bright. The condition of this volume is well worth the cost of restoration.
