An incredible portrait of the social and literary life of a time and place now long gone. Quarto 10 1/2" tall, about 200 pages per volume plus additional material tipped in, taped red cloth bindings over marbled boards. A good set overall, much handled but relatively sturdy, with general shelf wear and rubbing at the surface of the covers, fore-corner tips and cover edges worn through, moderate exterior soiling; interior relatively clean,with light ocassional soiling or foxing, and paper lightly yellowed.
