A good minus original copy overall, exterior significantly worn with front cover and back strip loose, back strip edge chipped, and cover corner tips rubbed through to boards. Title page and front free-endpaper missing; interior good and generally clean, internal binding solid, paper moderately yellowed, with original owner's bookplates on front pastedown.

A good original hardcover first edition with moderate shelf wear BUT the front hinge is broken and the front cover is loose, spine cloth is frayed at all edges, and about 1/2 the exterior front cover cloth damp stained (not interior); internal binding solid, paper moderately yellowed with light soiling to the fore-edges. This rare copy of the original copy of this medical classic deserves binding restoration and is priced accordingly.
