The title was determined by comparison to other volumes. There is a date present at the end of the preface along with the the place (Limerick) and names of the publishing committe. The number of pages is uncertain because some pages have two, three and four numbers given. 32mo, 4 3/4" tall, 608 pages (stated on last page),thin paper, black leather, gilt spine title 'Christian Melody." The book is in good condition over all, cover worn at extremities and front cover splitting at hinge with a piece of cloth tape keeping it from seperating further; fly-leaves and title page missing, internal binding mostly solid but split at center with closest signature loosened; there is dampstaining to the fore-edge margin with foxing to the fore-edge and first twenty pages.

This is a good plus volume over all, hinges broken with front fover and spine loose, internal binding solid, exterior corners rubbed, spine leather rubbed at hinges and coming loose at front hinge, and a hole (like small calibur bullet) in the front cover upper corner that is not evident in the interior; interior very good, clean, occassional minor foxing, paper lightly yellowed, internal binding solid and a previousowner's inscription on the front endpaper. This is the regular publisher edition. It was common for publishers to print such Very good -volumes from the original periodical plates before melting them down to make new plates. The Ladies' Repository was a monthly periodical issued by the Methodist Epicopal Church and published original and reprints of literature, poetry, biography and criticism and moral advice.
