Döberitz, Germany: 1915-1919 [WWI] Collection of Letters from POW British Navy Soldier to Welsh Nurse Döberitz, Germany: 1915-1919. 41 pieces of WWI correspondence: 25 hand-written postcards, 14 hand-written letters, 1 Easter card, 1 photographic postcard of soldier Roberts. All written from William F.J. Roberts, a member of the Royal Navy Division of the British Army, a prisoner of war in Germany, to Kathleen Touzel Wynne-Edwards, a nurse from North Wales, UK (with the exception of one letter, which was written to Kathleen from Roberts' father.) Most written on Kriegsgefangenensendung "prisoner of war mail" postcards or letterhead issued by Döberitz, a few on blank paper, mostly written in pencil with the others in ink. Published to commemorate the 550th anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, this book contains photographs and text that illustrate the rich history of the market and its vendors. Very scarce (only 4 copies listed in World Cat). L'effort américain is a transcription of a speech given by André Tardieu, the French Commissioner of the Franco-American War Cooperation. The speech was given on July 4, 1918, at a banquet hosted by the American Chamber of Congress as part of the American Independence Day celebration in Paris. This document is one of many items issued by the Union of Great French Associations Against the War, which was formed in 1917 to counter German propaganda in French occupied territories.. Soft Cover. Letters Concerning Toleration is a collection of four letters written by Locke on the subject of religious tolerance, in which the English philosopher argues that the acceptance of multiple religious groups is necessary in society to prevent civil unrest. Although each letter had previously been published individually as well as together in Locke's Collected Works, this 1765 edition is the first time in which the four letters have been published together as an independent volume.. Truman replies to his former Secretary of the Treasury, John W. Snyder, informing him that his assistant Rose Conway "found no record of my having any personal appointments with Speaker Sam Rayburn or Vice President Barkley on the 25th or 26th of June 1950." The end of June 1950 was a very significant moment in U.S. - and world - history, marking the beginning of the Korean War. On June 25th, 1950, 90,000 communist troops from North Korea invaded South Korea along the 38th parallel. In this letter, Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone with the Wind (1936), thanks McMahan for sending her a book on Crater Lake and "The Brimfield Heroine Letter," which is a 66-year-old woman's account of her journey on the Oregon Trail.
