Unique original booklet created by the 27th Air Division as a nomination of the 612th Radar Squadron for a Unit Incentive Program Award. Typed original text on the history, facilities and maintenance of the base. In addition, the booklet 10 mounted 5X7 photographs of the base and interior of several of the facilities. Seeing as the base was closed a year later in 1969 and has since been demolished, this booklet provides a unique glance at the base while in operation. Wear to edges and spine. A few light stains to cover.

Goodrich's Landing, LA: Original, 1863. Original Letters. Very Good. Important collection of six war-date letters written by Union Brigadier General John Parker Hawkins while in command of Colored Troops at Goodrich's Landing, LA. Goodrich's Landing was the name for the cotton plantation owned by Henry Goodrich that was siezed by Union troops early in the war. The site was prepared as a staging area for an eventual attack on Vicksburg. As early as 1862, escaped slaves sought refuge at Goodrich's Landing. Hawkins was promoted to Brigadier General and named to command the District of Northeastern Louisiana, with a division of colored soldiers in 1863. She was a noted local authority on Forrest and obviously had a little something to do with the writing of this book (per the inscription at least). Original maroon cloth a bit rubbed and worn at hinges and top of spine . A very appealing copy of a book notriously difficult to find in high-grade condition.
