Names of two former owners written on front pastedown and ffep, their underscoring and/or marginalia on approximately 100 pages (the notes of the first owner, a minister and later professor of speech, reflect his interest in homiletics).

New Directions, 1981. 2nd Edition . Soft cover. Good. 197 pages, with translator's prefaces to the first (1958) and this English editions. Originally published in French, 1947. Theme and variations: one incident told in 99 different styles. Trade paperback, wear to corners, small tears at bottom of spine, wraps had separated and are reglued leaving the first signature very slightly out of alignment, incipient foxing to top edge.
