Edison's former laboratory assistant are a history of Edison and electricity from 1878 to 1929. All 3 volumes are clean and tight with light toning of pages. Among those licensed to use his patented devices was George Washington, and many of the mills built in the early 19th century were based on Evans' designs. Part five of the book and its accompanying plates are by Thomas Ellicott, whose family were the largest flour mill owners in Maryland. Preceded only by the now rare 1795 first edition, this second edition was printed by Lancaster County printer Francis Bailey, who is best known for the printing of the first complete official edition of the Articles of Confederation.
