Description:
New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1931. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Photoplay edition. Illustrated by Lloyd Coe. A faint pencil name on the front pastedown, and a tiny label on the rear pastedown, else fine in fine dustwrapper with a short tear on the front panel. Illustrated with drawings, but the jacket features a great looking portrait painting of Clara Bow in the 1932 film directed by John Francis Dillon, and also featuring Gilbert Roland and Thelma Todd. A lurid and entertaining pre-Code film, but very much a product of its time: The always vivacious Bow plays a feisty Texas girl who cannot fit into society, is reduced to prostitution, and only finds happiness when she discovers she is part Indian (explaining her savage nature), returns to her people, and marries within her kind.
