Eight Eurocentric Historians

By Blaut, J.M.

New York: The Guilford Press, 2000. Paperback. xii, 227p., softbound in 9x6 inch glossy wraps. Sound, clean and unmarked, an unmolested copy. Laid in are several leaves of publisher's adverts. FYI, Blaut uses "eurocentric" to mean falsely favoring Europeans over other peoples and places; his last chapter is a general survey of thirty such stereotypical falsities and which of the eight historians espoused which combination of fallacies. Weber, earliest-published, could openly embrace a raw-virtue, white-people-are-better argument, but later historians knew to ascribe Eurp's economic and military dominance to geography, environment, market savvy, et cetera. The colonizer's model of the world, volume 2.
