Charlottesville: University Press of Virginia, 1999. Hardcover. The first seven (7) installments of a set projected to be twelve volumes total, each hardbound in red cloth boards and dust jacket, matching formats of course. Every endsheet features intricate genealogical tables. There are no photoillustrations save for dj portraits; volumes average six hundred pages and look to be in very good shape except that all foredges bear scattered foxing (a storage problem, doubtless); all top edges are tint-flecked as issued. Preliminaries in four of the volumes are inscribed and signed by one of the editors (illegible hand) possibly by McDermott who initials half-title next his credit slug. Find, laid in here and there, prospectus sheets or notepaper on which a reader has pencilled queries, we see no markings in the text itself. These first seven volumes as a lot, in near-fine glossy condition.
