Description:
New York: Catholic Freedom Foundation, 1965. Handbill. Single 8.5x11 sheet, printed one side only, "From John Birch Society" penciled along one edge, blank verso unevenly toned, else very good condition. "We the undersigned, are firmly convinced that the Kremlin's triumphing strategy (now in advanced stages of development) for our nation's defeat is 'Encirclement + Infiltration + Subversion + Demoralization + Capture!' We are convinced that if domestic communists (so powerfully assisted by American fellow-travelers, pseudo-liberals, opportunists and dupes) continue as little exposed and opposed as heretofore, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA will inevitably fall into the hands of the U.S.S.R. - without a bomb dropped!" The statement and partial endorsement list appeared in ads in the national Catholic conservative weekly "The Wanderer" in the September 30 and October 14, 1965 issues.

Description:
New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1872. Hardcover. 132p., printed smallpoint in double columns with a divider-line, illustrated with numerous steel engravings in half- and quarter-page size, these struck clearly. Later printing of the 1871 first issue, hardbound in 9.5x5.8 inch brownish-maroon cloth boards, titling gilt and panelling blind. Exterior cloth is worn and dirty with fray and card showing at corner-tips and at top and tail of spine. Original matte brown endsheets are good, front endsheet shows a hairline crack but feels sound. At leaf 37/8 a long closed tear in text, legibility unaffected. Book remains generally pretty sound, is handleable and readable. Storyline appears to include a sub-plot in which local protestant and catholic clergymen are reconciled, Italian-Americans get-a to speak funny, and rural Irish are mocked.

London: Hollis and Carter, 1954. xiv, 382p., illustrated with scattered b&w photos and reproductions on inserted coated stock, hardbound in green boards gilt-titled. Spine panel somewhat faded and spine-titling must be held to light to read, text edges are mildly foxed; casing has the general air of having been handled. The front endsheet bears a small neat ownership signature; a good clean copy. Author Maranon has published several books on sexual and "intersexual" matters, and we're at liberty to think that anything sexual known of Perez' life will be touched on though not emphasized (we see no clues in book's index).

Description:
Boston: Printed by Ford and Damrell, 1834. Pamphlet. 44p. pamphlet, neatly disbound, covers foxed. Buzzell was the professed leader of a group of Protestants who attacked and burned the Catholic convent in what is now Somerville, MA, in one of the landmark events of anti-Catholic persecution in New England. Austin describes the devastation of the riot and describes the anti-Catholic expression of bigotry as un-American. Buzzell is recorded as having later said, "The testimony against me was point blank and sufficient to have convicted twenty men, but somehow I proved an alibi, and the jury brought in a victory of not guilty, after having been out for twenty-one hours.
