The author states that he took a post as a surgeon for a company operating a platinum mine in Chocó. Includes numerous stories about travelers (one who claims to be the brother of the bestselling author Marie Corelli), dangers encountered on the journey, and meetings with local Afro-Colombian and indigenous peoples. Part of a series of adventure stories advertised that take place in U.S. national parks, Florida, and the Congo. Date of publication from latest date mentioned in the text. WorldCat lists only one location as of May 2023.

Your humble cataloger has searched in vain for a date, but this issue was published after the Munich Pact. This issue is largely devoted to ties between Uruguay and Germany, with articles on famous German immigrants, as well as the philosophers, art, musicians, and other noted figures of Germany. A section on the Munich Pact has a full-page portrait of Hitler.

Milwaukee WI: Hal-Leonard Corporation, 1990. Spiral_bound. [462[p., spiral-bound 12x9 inch songbook, lyrics and music printed clearly, but run-on, so two or parts of two songs sometimes are same-pagers. Near-new condition, front cover has a browser's crimp, the Contents pages bear occasional light pencilmarks, a very good copy with no other marks and no dust-soil.

Sofia: Sofia-press, 1978. Paperback. 209p., text in Spanish, softbound in 8x5 inch white wraps; has ex-school stamps on edge and titlepage and a numeral taped to heel of spine. Also has some exterior grime and a deep bump to upper corner that affects cover and every leaf. Within, reasonably clean, no markings.

La Habana: CASA; Premio Casa de Las Americas, 1969. Paperback. [133]p., softbound in 7.4x4.7 inch decorated frenchfold wraps and a ditto dust jacket, third Cuban printing. Textblock is toned throughout and somewhat foxed, cover slightly edgeworn, the jacket very edgeworn with a split begun at the tail. A good-only copy. Casa's "Cuento" series. One of Skarmeta's fictions (not represented here) was made into an internationally popular movie, "Il Postino," or The Postman; b.Chile, wrote a thesis in philosophy under Julio Cortazar, graduated from New York's Columbia University.

Freiburg: Herder, 1899. Hardcover. An especially nice exemplar of the first edition in its original dust jacket: xiii, 531p., plates as called for including color frontis and (bound in at back) a folded world map in colors. Bound in also are perhaps a dozen sepia terraine maps with added spot-colors. Hardbound in grass-green cloth boards glitteringly decorated in gilt and more color, 10x6.5 inches. Cloth hinges, always a good sign, coated alkaline paperstock throughout, textblock edges are tinted and also marbled (curious), photographic plates all tissue-guarded.. the one glitch we see is a fractionally-started leaf midway of textblock (maybe 1/64th of an inch), an else fine production, enclosed in the as-issued dust jacket made of semi-coated kraft stock (trimmed as issued and spine-titled black). Dj is edgeworn with short tears at the head-rim and corner-tips. Wonderful copy.

Breña [Lima], Peru: Amaru Editores, 1982. Paperback. 109, [3]pp., wraps. 6.5 x 4.25 in. Indentations, regularly patterned, on front cover, probably not intentional but not obstructive. A pocket-sized academic study of the origins of Jose Carlos Mariategui's positions on socialism and Marxist-Leninism, tracing his thought from "literary aestheticism" to "socialist critique." Covers formative experiences in Europe and the application of socialist critique to the Peruvian context.

New Haven: William Reese Company, 2004. Paperback. Unpaginated, about 120 pages with 161 items, many facsimiles shown (clearly reproduced), softbound in 9x6 inch decorated white wraps. An as-new exemplar, soundly bound, perfectly clean and unmarked in any way. Both front and back covers, and the half-page facsimile at item 133 ("America Tertia Pars", 1592), feature images of cannibalism, whether imputed or actually observed. That on back is an imaginative rendering of the execution of a ritual victim.

Pp.61-96 (complete in itself, part of a series), line illustrations (diagramatic ideograms, one long folded plate clarifying a woven message), softbound, a pamphlet in 8.5x6.5 inch selfwraps. A little crimping and edgewear, good copy. On back cover find an English-language presentation signed from one of the comite' (Lizarraga), datelined '93; it is probably she who wrote the holograph note ("use this address") inside front cover. Appears to be a comparison of ethnic pictographs from ancient neighboring cultures.
