Softbound in 9x6 inch khaki wraps cover-titled gilt around a colorized photo of elephants. The overlapping edges are worn and there's a crease in one corner-tip; slight crimping here and there in text-block, and one pencil underline (under "April and May are very hot" on p.14). Good to very good copy.

Description of a road trip from Beijing to Paris. A substantial portion of the book, and several black and white illustrations, describe the difficult trek across portions of China that lacked adequate roads for automobiles.

Text entirely in Italian. Quite sound. The main textblock paper is very toned and on its way to being fragile, while the original wraps (neatly bound in) and the additional endsheets are amazingly fresh, and the cloth binding has aged well (nice leather label gilt).

Young 3657*. Stoddard born in Rochester lived much of his life in San Francisco and the Bay Area (he was in SF at the time of the 1906 earthquake) He was gay and traveled extensively in the South Seas of which he wrote for periodicals and in this book extols the virtues of the Islanders' acceptance of homosexual love.

Softbound, 10x5 inches, ditto cover illustration in silver and black on white; the English section is worn and the inside of its cover bears clean reinforcing tape, whereas the French section has just a little edgewear. Inside, photos and vignette sketches are highlighted with spot-color. Overall, a good copy.
