[Seven items from the Socialist Workers Party's West Coast Vacation School and Camp]

Los Angeles, etc.: [SWP], 1958. Group of seven documents from the SWP's western camp, which offered a chance to relax at a desert resort with classes and discussion sessions woven into the daily schedule. The lot includes brochures advertising the camps, instruction sheets for those attending, and lists of classes. Generally very good condition, with some handling wear and toning; the 1957 schedule is folded and toned, and the 1956 "final reminder" is foxed. Lecturers at the camps included high-profile Party muck-a-mucks like James P. Cannon; the 1958 session included Diamond Kimm, former editor of Korean Independence who was targeted by immigration authorities because of his politics. The camps were held at the Workmen's Circle Camp in Carbon Canyon, San Bernardino County, for several years; they then moved to Perris, in Riverside County.
