Diccionario Esotérico de la Biblia

By Gimenez Jaaurina, Miguel (traductor aka translator)

Barcelona, Spain: Ediciones Abraxas, 2000. A1 - A Spanish language edition trade paperback ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color wraps with minor overall shelf wear with the usual library stamp and label on the top outside paper edges and the copyright page. The variety of peoples who occupied the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, where the Bible originated, were as plentiful as the variety of landscapes found there and these people also professed a large variety of pagan religions. Among these peoples emerged Israel, which alone had a monotheistic religion embodied in the worship of Jehova and which was written in what we now call the Old Testament, which includes 46 books. With the birth of Jesus Christ, arises Christianity and additional canonical text: the New Testament with 27 books. The Old Testament was written in Hebrew, with some passages in Aramaic and Greek, while the New Testament was in the New Greek. Some scholars have long argued that the Bible is a coded message, a Message that could only be read with the appropriate clues: '... they look without seeing, and hearing they hear not, neither understand' (Matthew 13, 13). This 'Esoteric Dictionary' is intended as a guide investigating some of these clues, clues that may permit the sacred texts to be seen with new eyes that reveal their hidden spiritual treasure. Spanish Language Edition. Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.

Concordancias del Nuevo Testamento

By Lujan, Jose

Barcelona, Spain: Biblioteca Herder / Editorial Herder, 1982. A1 - A Spanish language edition trade paperback ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color wraps with minor overall shelf wear with the usual library labels and stamps on the top outside paper edges, the front and back endpapers, the copyright page and the inside surface of back cover plus some small closed tears at two corners on the back cover. A biblical concordance is nothing more than an alphabetical index of all words in the Bible with an indication of where they are located within the text. As such, it is a valuable working tool. Biblical scholars and readers of the Bible, for various reasons, frequently need to locate some partiular phrase or expression contained in the sacred pages. An easy task to accomplish if a concordance is available. In contrast, when using a concordance it is practically impossible in any investigation of biblical themes to be sure of specific nuances of words of the Bible offered in different contexts or translations. Given the difficulty of adapting this book to encompass each of the current translations of the New Testament in Castilian, the publisher decided to refer to the ecumenical version prepared under the direction of Father Seraphim of Ausejo (Herder, Barcelona 1968, 1974). The intent was that the intended user of this concordance, even accustomed to the reading and study of a different translation, would most likely have no major difficulties in using this concordance. The book contains nearly seventy thousand citations and includes almost every one of the words within the twenty-seven books that comprise the New Testament. The exceptions are some Castilian particles, as well as a few other Castilian words which occur with such excessive frequency or which contributed very little to the particular insight that can be provided by a concordance these the publisher felt it appropriate to omit them. Spanish Language Edition. Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.

El Resplandor de la Madera (The Glow of the Wood)

By Aguilar Camin, Hector

Colonia del Valle, Mexico, DF: Aguilar, Altea, Taurus, Alfaguara, SA, 1999. A1 - A Spanish languag edition trade paperback ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color wraps with minor overall shelf wear with the ususal library stamp and label on the top outside paper edges and copyright page plus some label staining and light surface wear on the back endpaper from a library pocket. Hector Aguilar Camin (1946) was born in Chetumal, Quintana Roo, in southeastern Mexico. His narrative work includes: 'La decadencia del dratón' (The decline of the Dragon) 1984, 'Morir en el golfo' (Dying in the Gulf) 1985, 'La guerra de Galio' (The Gallium War) 1991, 'Historias conversadas' (Conversational Stories) 1992, 'El error de la luna' (The error of the moon) 1995 and 'Un soplo en el rio' (A Murmur in the River) 1998. He received the Premio Nacional de Periodismo (National Journalism Award) 1986, Ichiiko Prize for Cultural Works (1997) and Mazatlán Prize for Literature (1998). 'Es resplandor de la madera' (The Glow of the Wood) narrates the loss of familiar realm of Caesars and their reconciliation to the mills of time through art of love and memory. The novel goes back and forth from the mythical past of the first Caesars to the final heirs to that lost power and its legend. Like any reconciliation, that of the Caesars is a catharsis of grief and an acceptance of the world as it is: their covenant with their inner demons as payment for their answered prayers. Novel and epic, 'Es resplandor de la madera' (The Glow of the Wood) is the story of several generations of Caesars all marked by an obsession to fulfill their dreams, only to see these dreams dissolve when they achieve the power to achieve them. 'Out of the crooked timber of humanity, no straight thing was ever made', says Kant in a section of this book. One should add: without the crooked timber of humanity, no literature worthy of the name could ever have been written. Spanish Language Edition. Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.

El Detalle: Tres Novelas Breves

By Carlos Somoza, Jose

Barcelona, Spain: Grupo Editorial Random House Mondadori, SL, 2005. F3 - A Spanish language edition trade paperback ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in illustrated wraps with minor overall shelf wear with the usual library stamps and labels on the top outside paper edges and the back free endpaper. José Carlos Somoza was born in Havana in 1959, but has lived in Spain since 1960. He is the author of the novels 'White Silence' (Vertical Smile Award, 1996), 'The Painted Window' (Best Café Gijón, 1998), 'Letters of an Insiginficant Murderer' (Debate, 1999), 'Dafne Vanished' (finalist Nadal Prize, 2000), 'The Cave of Ideas' (awarded 2002 Gold Dagger for best thriller in England), translated into over twenty languages and to international critical acclaim, 'Clara and Gloom' (Fernando Lara award 2001 and Hammett Award for best crime novel 2002, chosen by the magazine 'Lire' as one of the ten best books published in France in 2003), 'The Lady Number Thirteen' (Areté, 2003) and 'The Ivory Box'(Areté, 2004). He has also written several stories, a radio script and several plays. In 'El detalle' (The Detail), for the first time in one volume, are the only three short novels that José Carlos Somoza has written to date. These works are not related only by their length. They are also united by the author's description in each of a particular obsession. In 'Planos' (Planes), the obsession is Marcelino Roimar's, a young doctor who travels to the village of Roquedal to work there for one summer. His visit is transformed into a terrifying fantasy when he experiences a glimpse into another world and the strange creature that lives there. 'The Details' is narrated by the mad Roquedal 'official', Baltasar Párraga. Despite his reputation as alienated from most people, his obsession, paradoxically, is much more rational than Roimar's. Acting as an amateur detective, Párraga investigates a series of deaths in his village that have all been attributed to natural causes. 'La Boca' (The Mouth) is not set in Roquedal and the story is also constructed differently. Its form is as strange as is the obsession of its protagonist. The story consists of a single sentence with hardly a pause. Its narrator is a dentist with a prosperous practice. His life, including his love life, seems to be mundane and predictable, but his monochrome existence is suddenly transformed when he makes, for him, the wondrously strange discovery that our exterior flesh surrounds bones. 5.4"x9", 182 pages. Obra Negra (Black Work)

By Espinosa, Alfredo

Monterrey, Mexico: Ediciones Castillo, S.A. De C.V., 1997. BC5 - A tight, clean, sound copy in color wraps with minor overall shelf wear with a heavy clear plastic lamination applied to the covers plus there are the usual library stamps and label on the top outside paper edges, the front endpaper/half title page, and title page. A Spanish language novel by a noted contemporary Mexican writer. 317p.. Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.

Los Cuadernos de Don Rigoberto (The Notebooks of Don Rigoberto)

By Vargas Llosa, Mario

Madrid, Spain: Alfaguara Ediciones, 1997. BV3 - A trade paperback Spanish language edition withdrawn ex-library book in good+ to very good- condition. A novel about the relationship between creativity and procreativity by a noted Peruvian writer. Trade Paperback. Good/No Jacket as Issued. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
