Description:
New York: Harper Perennial, October 2003. Trade Paperback. First Paperback Edition / full numberline. Near Fine. Interior pristine. Spine straight, tight and uncreased. Light wear to rear cover. Not from a library. No remainder mark. Not clipped. xii + 147 pages. At the heart of Origami Bridges is the delicate relationship of trust between analyst and patient, a relationship that grows out of the emotional give-and-take of the psychoanalytic process. In this collection, Diane Ackerman, with astonishing candor, lays bare her desires, anger, jealousy, fears, and anxiety, as she probes not only her present emotional landscape but also her past. And what gradually rises to the surface is an understanding of how the poet uses verse to purge her demons, express her delight, or confess secret longing, and through this process come to a better understanding of the self.

Description:
Mundelstrup, Denmark: Dangaroo Press, 1984. Trade Paperback. Second Edition. As New. Pristine inside and out. Not from a library. 72 pages. Winner of the 1984 Commonwealth Poetry Prize. Songs of frustration and defiance from African slaves and indentured Indian laborers are expressed in a lyrical Guyanese Creole in these provocative poems. An insightful critical apparatus of English translations surrounds these lyrics, shedding light on their meaning, while at the same time cleverly commenting on the impossibility of translating Creole and parodying critical attempts to explain and contextualize Caribbean poetry.
