Offered is a 1758 letter written by Samuel Garfield, to his wife in Spencer, Mass. Garfield was a soldier in the French and Indian War, and he writes from Flat Bush 6 miles above Albany. " My dear, After my kind respects to you these may serve to let you know I am well at present hoping these will find you in like manner. We are now arrived at Hudson River and has had a tedious march through the woods. We expect to march from this place in a short time and our friends and neighbors are well at present.
