Pamphlet, done in some early manner akin to perfect binding as opposed to saddle stitch, 57 pp, after which follows an errata sheet. Something foxing prone may have been laid twixt p. 34 & 35 as there is ultra foxed area there (small) and verso 34. 4 unopened leaves at back (top) 2 unopened leaves center (fore edge). Some other edges (age darkened) appear cut, some natural, deckle.

Description:
Boston: Weeks, Jordan and Company, 1837. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Binding has spine chip, major corner bump, pencil eraser size splotch back cover. Exterior hinging looks decent. Inscription penciled first end sheet and this sheet and pastedown have speckling and foxing. Lots of foxing is present throughout, though mercifully text is supple and not chipped or dog eared. The major flaw, worthy of restoration is a gap at the last gutter (twixt last endsheet and pastedown) for some reason, unusually, it affects interior only, outside is fine. From the original collectors notes "Delivered on the request of the Council of Massachusetts Temperance Society, at The Odeon Boston, February 28, 1837 , the day appointed for the simultaneous meeting of the friends of Temperance throughout the world.

Description:
Salem: W. & S. B. Ives, 1827. First Edition . Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. We assert the book as a first edition based on the appearance of the date 1827 and its apparent match with number 2243 in the Sabin which is available to us. Book measures 8 3/4" by 5 1/2", though Sabin says 22 1/2 cm. (1/2 cm difference). The book has 611 pages, two blank endsheets front and rear. First sheet is completely loose and that gutter is gapped though the hinge is holding. Last endsheet is also partially loose with gutter gapping, again hinge is holding. The text, while nicely legible throughout has about every flaw that could be specified. Previous owner's name first pastedown and title page. Two erased pencillings, minor, are evident first endsheet's corner and title page. The text's foredge has the odd spot or stain. Endsheets have a fair amount of foxing and edge scar. Balance of text reasonably good, minimal foxing. Regarding the…

Description:
Philadelphia: Louis A. Godey, 1842. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair+/No Jacket. A custom rebinding from the period, previous owners name done in gilt relief front center. She has written her name in pencil above the January title. Half bound in leather (spine and tips) balance in abrasioned marble paper. The tips, spine extremities have major wear to the leather, worn thru. The most notable flaw is at the hinging of the front board, wholly compromised (worn thru with age) but held in place with the twine of the binding. The fisrt end sheet is completely loose at this point. Pastedowns and endsheets are quite foxed and the interior varies from almost no foxing to rather notably so. The only missing fashion illustration is form January, August is either missing or was omitted, no table of contents is in place for the second half of the year. 1st section 344 pages, 2nd section 204 pages. The apparently hand tinted illustration are fascinating and while some foxing is present. hopefully it will not worsen…

Appearing here, Illustrations by Howard Pyle. Bret Harte's "An Esmerelda of Rocky Canyon." A story written and Illustrated by Frederic Remingtom,"The White Forest." Henry Cabot Lodge writing on the Spanish-American War. A host of other are represented, huge book. Gutter at front fully separated, library stamp last pastedown. Handsome, straight copy, approaching Near Fine condition. Splendid hard cover with buckramesque tough green cloth boards and good spine gilt. Measures 9 1/2 x 6 1/2". Text seems superb, unmarked, parchmentlike paper, stored in acid free clear sleeve. Accompanying the book is a whimsical map of Topsfield, folded and worn/darkened at the folds, dated as 1650-1950.
