Morphy's Games Of Chess

By Sergeant, Philip

NY: Dover, 1957. Book. Good+. Trade Paperback. 5th or later Edition. Seemingly a 60s facsimile reprint (trade paper with stiff paper covers) 0f an early 20th century (1915) original. Covers a trifle bunged up, text sharp, but we are dealing with an older Dover, do not hyper open. would be my advice. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

The Winner's Edge

By Irwin Bruce

Don Mills, Ontario: Collins, 1983. Book. Very Good+. Hardcover. 1st Edition. My reference does not seem to include 1st edition identification for this house. That said, scarcity in early printings seems to indicate that this is one of very few 1sts of this widely reprinted, and if I recall correctly POD'd, item, Hardcover with unpriced jacket (frankly does not LOOK book clubby at all). Book straight and handsome. The Jackets sole flaw (other than very minor abrasion wear) is a bit of edge darkening at the inner/upper jacket flap edges. Title page says "Collins Toronto" Copyright page says "Don Mills" Hmmm. Small ink stamped numeral title page, suspect this is some manner of FE indicator. In any case, book says 'first published and has NAP. Sharp copy. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

Chess Fundamentals

By Capablanca Raul R.

NY: Harcourt, Brace, 1944. Book. Good. Hardcover. 5th or later Edition. Interesting old clothbound hardcover w/ HBs date (partial) on copyright page. Apparently scarce in real, older copies, heavily done in recent reprint, we presume many, perhaps all of these are papercovers. This 246 page version has preface dated 34 by JRC and a clean, deckle, unmarked text. Boards are not in bad shape per se, but have a bit of minor stain and some spine fray, fairly minor. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.
