Sweet Thursday

Sweet Thursday

By Steinbeck, John

NY: Viking, 1954. Book. Good -. Hardcover. 1st Edition. A jacketed, hardcover first trade edition with considerable charm and some notable flaws. The sequel to Cannery Row. Red topstain and redlines on the title page are present. I am not aware of any points of issue per se. Copyright correct for Viking 1st, FP. Dust jacket's price largely eradicated (attempted, not very successful) but in place. The book club (this is not) lacks the red ink on the title page. While the book is essentially sound, various issue are noted, bumping of upper back board at spine, mild erasure scar/smudge first endsheet. Text unmarked, no dogearing, binding sound. The above not be construed as a list of all things right/wrong, but rather, a summary of the major issues. As skilled purchasers will know, Good- is a very low grade. Jacket, looking decent in it's mylar wrapper, has edgewear, short tears, other scars. Foto will be added by and by. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

By Barnes, Kim

NY: Knopf, 2012. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Foredge deckle, 321+ pages, author signed on title page above her name. Oddly this fresh copy, unmarked, has cocking (this is spine slant, caused by improper storage, so I am told) lovely hardcover, stated 1st, priced jacket. Jacket fresh and bright no tears, no notable edgewear. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

The Brothers K

By Duncan, David James

NY: Doubleday, 1992. Book. Very Good+. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Handsome hard cover, priced jacket, FE statement copyright page. Jacket has 2 upper edge tears (quite short, perhaps 1/8 th inch) and looks splendid in it's mylar wrapper. Jacket surely has a hint of mild edgewear as well. Duncan publishes rarely and this is a superb book, in my estimation. His 2nd book, unmarked, unbumped, perhaps carefully read once. I would say it falls in the area twixt collectible and suitable for reading, condition-wise. Foto will follow eventually. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

Nickel Mountain

By Gardner, John

NY: Knopf, 1973. Book. Fair. Hardcover. 1st Edition. X-library and heavily circulated, many XL indicators and withdrwal stamps form an army library. Book is smudged, hiinges loose, thankfully no gappiness. The jacket is the likely highlight of this roughish item. Spine sunned, spine label came off cleanly, will shoot/ship in new mylar wrapper. Unclipped jacket, $6.95 price, 12/73 foot of wear flap, copyright page says "first edition". Again, think reading copy, while a true first (I am unaware of any points other than those referenced) this item has had major use. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

The Joy Luck Club-The Kitchen God's Wife

By Tan, Amy

NY: Putnam, 1989. Book. Poor. Hardcover. 1st Edition. This listing is for 2 early Tan hardcover firsts vended for their jackets only. The books, while hardcover firsts, are too rough for sale/use. I assume the purchaser will marry the jackets to better copies of the firsts. Both books will accompany the jackets as they are usable as reading copies and will offer means of shipping the mylar wrappered jackets. The JLC jacket has a good deal of edgerwear/tipwear, no long tears, is correct for the points (26.50 Can. price $18.95 US-Putnam ad bottom back flap) and has a mild full length crease to it's back panel. Book truly a total loss, binding bad, loose text, owner name penned, full number line. TKGW jacket is better, no notable edgewear, but stain to text top edge, schmutzy boards, owner name penned etc. A foto of the pair, in their mylar wrappers will follow. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.
