The Circular Staircase-The Breaking Point

By Rinehart, Mary Roberts

Indanapolis: Bobbs Merrill, 1908. Book. Illus. by Ralph Lester. Fair. Hardcover. 1st Edition. This listing is for 2 by MRR sold as a pair at the listed price with one-book priced domestic media mail shipping. TCS is her first book, scarce, September, 362 pages, orange and black on olive cloth. Much edge/tip abrasion. First page is the blank verso of a Lester illustration (tissue in place) and I could not swear a blank endsheet hasn't gone missing. Binding gapping a trifle at gutter. Name fountain penned on this blank sheet. Cocking and some wear issues are present. Texts of these 2 are notably aged in appearance. It is graded low, though sound enough for reading and possessed of a turn of the century charm. I believe it was done without jacket. TBP similar but uncocked, notable flecks front lower cover. 1st and last endsheets quite foxed, readable. GHD (Doran) colophon in place. Not pretty but serviceable. Foto of the pair will follow. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

Neck and Neck

By Bruce, Leo

UK: Ian Henry, 1976. Book. Very Good-. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Scarce, early UK reprint (1st for this house, publisher's product, priced in pounds) hardcover, in jacket, unlovely, but flaws are not outrageous. 1976 version of early 50s Gollancz original. Cocked (this if you are not familiar with it is spine misalignment) inexpensively made, bit of corner bumping. Remainder mark bottom edge. Jacket is a poor fit, as made I suspect, flap blurbing showing where it should not. White jacket has the odd fleck and scar, no tears to speak of. Should look quite decent in its new mylar wrapper. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*.

Sting Of The Honeybee

By Parrish, Frank

NY: Dodd, Mead, 1978. Book. Very Good-. Hardcover. 1st Edition, full number Line. This book, while clean and sound, should be thought of primarily as a reading copy, and is not, for reasons that will be obvious, is not in collectable condition. Brightly quarter bound (lemon boards, black cloth spine). Some cocking (spine slant) is evident. There is a bit of price erasure at upper-corner first endsheet. The reason for the jackets low grade is that is has extensive abrasion to the front and back panels, in new mylar wrapper, no long tears. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Horse Of A Different Killer

By Jaffe, Jody

NY: Fawcett Columbine, 1995. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Later Printing. This is Jaffe's 1st novel. We have a first of the 2nd novel (chestnut mare) on the shelf. While this item has the "First Edition"statement and the priced dust wrapper of a trade edition, it lacks a '1' in it's number line and therefore is not a true trade First. For those who care, as per Ahearn, only the first printing of the first edition meets the test. That a book says 'first edition" is often meaningless. Failure to understand this is epidemic in the online marketplace. . . .*We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. We assure the buyer that books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. *.
