Hastings on Hudosn: Morgan & Morgan, 1972. 2nd Printing . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. Group of books missing v.1 Basic Photo. Lilianne De Cook has ed. credit on AA, hard cover, seasonal masterworks of Adams the others are 2,3,4,5, of Basic Photo all will be shot as cleaning/jacketing process is underway. All came thru bad storage ( moisture) astonishingly well, text unaffected covers OK. The De Cook's jacket is roughest by far, large sections missing, esp. back, tears. The other jackets are better but some have spine stain, short tears, They come from the 5th and 7th printing and are not uniform, grey excepting 3 which is red. All texts thumb nicely, no sign of H2O. No marking, though the De Cook has owner name penned 1st endsheet.

Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1919. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Poor. Difficult hardcover to describe.Heavy text is mildly age darkened, binding is fully gone at at least 2 gutters, split. Cloth boards are sound and unbumped, but, back panel has stain (small ink?) light soiling, spine a bi tschmutzy. Frontispiece in color B & W illus and diagrams. Easily restorable. Garage sale price erased 1st endsheet. Really, rather more handsome than it sounds.

Kyoto: Not Stated, 1970. Not Stated . Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket. Surely a promotional photographic essay on the region. Magnificent hard cover came from the estate of a noted American politician. Most of the text and captioning seem to be rendered in English and Japanese. Rich violet basketweave cloth exterior with gilt stamping. May have a trace of sunning. Text unmarked, binding sound. Publication data appears to be all in Japanese and therefore not available for this listing. As handsome a photographing of Japanese design and architecture as I have ever come across. Book seems flawless to my eye, hint of stitching can be seen at gutters, suspect as made. A tall slender volume of shockingly beautiful photos and text, 12" tall x 8" wide. Having no German I'd be hard pressed to say anything abouth this item, which certainly seems to be scarce. It seems possible that it was meant as some manner of promotional item, Jacket unpriced, there is label laid on front of jacket which says, "Von Der Stif tung Buchkunst Pramiert." and "eines de schonsten bucher." The books sole flaw, though I don't think it is actually a flaw at all, is an ultra mild trace of wave, not due to atmospherics I think, but characteristics of the sort of slick heavy oversize text this is done up in. The jacket has the kind of ultra mild scuff that might even be foun on some new copies, no tears or soiling, in mylar wrapper. It is warmly inscribed and dated to Senator Frank Church on the 1/2 title page. Book by famed Italian photographer Vecchi is a photographic tribute to Poland done on this occasion. The book's sole notable flaw is a bit of sunning, otherwise it is in clean attractive shape, with no binding flaws. No prior or later printings are referenced and it seems to be correct for a first edition (1970) of this work.
