New York, NY: Harcourt Brace and Company, 1946. 1st Edition 5th or later Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 1946 Harcourt Brace FIRST edition, 5th printing ( e.8.46) of Warren's classic book. A very solid copy in VG+/Good condition. The HB is clean & tight with some wear & rubbing on the boards. The DJ is not price-clipped, has a scotch tape repair along the left spine. The top of the spine has a chip missing that does not descend into the title, nor does the bottom chip ascend into the publishing company title. Awarded the 1947 Pulitzer Prize, rated by the Modern Library as the 36th greatest novel of the 20th century, and in 2005 one of Time magazine's100 best novels since 1923, In 1949, adapted and directed for the screen by Robbert Rossen. The HB that has minor corner wear and is clean and tight. Overall deep blue cloth with one light 1 cm spot and minor lightening on the back. The DJ retains its vivid colors. It has wear along some edges, and the spine with loss of part of the title (THE & Y) and inch along the top of the back. The 1951 Pulitzer Prize Winner. Adapted in 1954 as a film starring Humphrey Bogart as Queeg and nominated for 7 Academy Awards. It also opened 5 months earlier in the same year as a two-act play, The Caine Mutiny Court Martial. Boston, MA, U.S.A.: Houghton Mifflin, 1946. First Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 1946 Houghton Mifflin True First Edition and Carson McCuller's 3rd novel. This copy is in Very Good condition. There is no DJ. The HB is spotless with neither stains nor foxing on the boards or text and only a trace of bumps on the top corners. The interior has only a dedication from April 1946 from a friend R.K. to a couple. Six bottom edge pages have been professionally repaired. It is apparent that the printer had no separated cleanly the bottom edges of those pages and the owner had pulled and torn them apart rather than applied a scissors. Most tears are ~1 mm with a single one at 8 cm.
