Scrapbook. Very Good. No Binding. Oak Grove Campus, Flint, Michigan --Helen Brown's 1949 Tree Herbarium School Project with (64) specimens-- Signed "Helen Brown Lab D", on front pastedown. This herbarium was thoughtfully produced-- 22 pages of neatly hand-written 'characteristics', + an index to the specimens. Each page has a single specimen mounted on one side only with cellophane tape. She records each specimen with its scientific name, common name, and a bottom page number. One specimen is labeled "Oak Grove Campus / Flint / Oct. 1949," thus locating this collection in time and place. The cellophane tape is mostly unobtrusive, but some of the evergreen specimens are heavily taped down. Two evergreen specimens lack some needles. The album is housed in a custom-made box, and is intentionally disbound for simpler handling. Overall, in excellent condition..

Indianapolis: The Bobbs-merrill Company, 1927. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 8vo - over 7¾. God made man, like Himself, lonely. The animals had mates, but man had a soul. God admired this distinction, but man at that time did not. Man tried to make friends with the animals, but a day came when the divine loneliness could not be endured, so God made Lilith, the most seductive body of a woman the oldest poets remembers. However Lilith had no soul, so God created Eve and divided the one soul between them. Not exactly what Adam had asked for. Screen reader support enabled. .

Description:
NY: A.S. Barnes & Co., 1941. Book. Illus. by Illustated with photos. Very Good. Hardcover. Inscribed by Author(s). Charles Askins, Jr., was an American lawman, US Army officer, and writer. He served in law enforcement -US Forest Service and Border Patrol- in the American Southwest prior to the Second World War. Askins was controversial for the relish with which he described the numerous fatal shootings in his law enforcement and military careers, stating he had killed 27 men. Because he was involved in numerous shootouts along the US - Mexico border, and due to his stated practice of not keeping track of African-Americans and Hispanics, the actual number of killings he committed was potentially much higher. Askins once remarked that he thought he was a psychopathic killer, and that he hunted animals so avidly because he was not allowed to hunt men anymore..
