The author gives an authentic account of flying an Army Black Hawk helicopter during the Iraq war. The journal entries of his deployment paint a vivid portrait of the day-to-day struggles soldiers endured.

The Winnipeg author died in 1992, and never saw his manuscript published. Iverach tells the story of his service in WWII, from flight training at No. 1 Air Observer School in Malton, Ontario in 1940 to serving in The Canadian Air Force in WWII.

In his typically delightful manner, the hired hand at Idlewood Farm tells the stories of prairie boys on the lower decks in the Battle of the Atlantic during WWII.
