Condition: VERY GOOD+ : light rubbing to extremities, small tears at spine head, tiny tear front cover, scratch to rear cover, a few faint foxing stains to tissue guard, clean and tight throughout. A lovely copy of this important book on the domestic lives of American women. Catharine Esther Beecher (1800-78), was an educator and women's rights activist who wrote a number of educational treatises and handbooks for housewives, this one with her more famous sister Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-96). The work is dedicated "To the Women of America, in whose hands rest the real destinies of the Republic.
