Publisher's note: "The first four issues of the Journal of the Historical Firearms Society of South Africa (South African Muzzle Loaders Association) were roneod, and only 30 copies of each were made. Since 1958 however, the number of members of the Society increased rapidly, and it thus became possible in 1960 to have the Journal printed. As the first four issues of the Journal were still much in demand, it was decided to reprint the articles from these numbers in book form, in the same format as Volumes 2 and 3 of the Journal. This edition of the reprint is limited to 250 copies.". The boards are a touch edge worn but remain strong and square. Internally, there is a previous owner's marking on the front end page and the pages are tanned about the edges throughout. There are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages are crisp, clean and complete. The binding is secure. JK
