Scarce one-page handwritten letter on Biltmore Hotel stationery by the late Hall of Fame pitcher best known for his career with the New York Mets where he was the pitching ace on the 1969 World Series winning team. Addressed to journalist Richard Tobin. In full: "Thanks for your note. I'm sorry we missed base at Riverfront Stadium. I got your note from one of our players just before the game started and was unable to make contact with you. I've sent the picture off to the young lad and he should have it ina day or two-- Hope all is well-- Very Best, Tom Seaver." With the envelope addressed in Seaver's hand.

Illustrated with many photographs, mostly color, of the Hall of Famer. A brief foreword by then Texas Rangers Managing General Partner George W. Bush. SIGNED by the all-time strikeout king (Ryan, not Bush) on a special certificate mounted on the front free endpaper, one of 5308 numbered copies as such, each representing one of Ryan's strikeouts. This particular copy, ironically, is victim 2329, Lee Stanton, on 25 July 1977. Ryan, incredibly, was the 295th player selected in professional baseball's first amateur draft in 1965. Selected by the New York Mets, Ryan would stay with that team until 1971 when he was traded along with three other players, including Lee Stanton, for infielder Jim Fregosi.
