The classic monograph of cacti, copiously illustrated with fine colour plates and line drawings and many photographs of specimens in the field and in the greenhouse.Sets of this original edition are rare, and more recent reprints have either no colour plates, or fewer, and none have the colour lithographed plates, which were produced by A. Hoen & Co. after Mary E. Eaton, H.A. Wood, Kaka Morita and others. Ex-library set with labels, stamps and shelf marks long since removed, and lacking one 16pp section of text together with 2 plates in volume two, and a single plate in volume four. It is nonetheless a useful reference set, with 134 (of 137) full-page plates, of which 105 are superbly coloured, and some 1,120 photographs and text figures.. First Edition. Cloth.
