First edition. 8vo. xxvii, 235; xviii, 320 pp. Rebound in full burgundy morocco, top edges gilt, original spines bound in at the rear of the volume. Spine divided into six compartments by five raised bands with single gilt rules, title and author stamped in gilt in second and fourth compartments, first edition stamped in gilt at heel of spine, and boards edged two sets of double gilt rules separated by a blind stamp. Binding signed by Thomas W. Best. Light shelfwear, some darkening to spine with some wear at joints, slight loss to head of spine of volume II (as from repeated snatchings), else very good.

The first edition of ANDROCLES AND THE LION (from Everybody's Magazine, Volume XXXI, No. 3, September, 1914, pp 289-311 with the original magazine cover bound in); the unauthorized first edition (appearing 2 years before the authorized edition) of PYGMALION, A ROMANCE IN FIVE ACTS (from Everybody's Magazine Volume XXXI, No. 5, November, 1914, pp. 577-612, original magazine front cover bound in); and the unauthorized first edition of PASSION, POISON, AND PETRIFICATION, A TRAGEDY (in Harry Furness's Christmas Annual for 1905, pp. 11-24, original front cover bound in).All three bound together in full morocco, top edges gilt, five raised bands, titles and author in gilt to spine. Light rubbing to lower corners and to backstrip, original covers trimmed closely at edges, else very good.
