Description:
London: Published for the Author. W.A.Wright, Printer., 1858. Full Leather. Vg/No Jacket. 8vo. xix,200 pgs. plus 12 pgs. of testimonials. 17 colour lithograph plates with tissue guards, including the frontis. Missing the plate at the section on the Almond Tumbler, which, according to J.C.Lyell, in the appendix of his treatise on Fancy Pigeons (3rd ed.1887) is duplicated. Copies examined on line, show this duplication, as the frontis and the missing plate are the same. The text includes a reprinting of John Moore's Columbarium (1735) with Eaton's footnotes added. Some of the testimonials at the end are dated as late as 1861, so I suspect this copy is a later printing. Contemporary, full leather binding with a renewed spine showing signs of age. Original covers with decorative border in blind and gilt titles, worn at the corners & edges. All edges gilt. Front endpapers with previous owners names. Front and back hinges are reinforced with older binding tape. Text and plates remain clean and…
