William Pickering, London l844 . A very nice copy of one of Pickerings Black Letter Prayer Book reprints In the original vellum-style binding with leather spine labels and gilt rules. These were not facsimile reprints but re--interpretations which combined Caslon roman type withthe black letter and modern initial letters cut by Mary Byford. Superb printing , fore-runner of the Kelmscott and other private presses later in the century . There is a short crack in the spine,not affecting the hinges but otherwise in very good conditiion.A wonderful bit of printing!
