Corners are bumped/creased, pieces missing at head and foot of spine, owner's name on title page, and there is occasional underlining of names and notations in margins where the owner supplied names of persons the author mentioned, but not by name (typical of books of a genealogical nature); a few minor stains on a couple of pages, and light soil on covers. Barnard, a New York Assemblyman and U.S. Congressman, was retired and living in Albany, NY when he wrote this letter. Wraps are soiled, bottom front corner has a small crease. Corners and spine ends are bumped with wear, gilt on spine is faded, cloth is bubbled in spots, cover soiled, foxing on frontis and frontis tissue; interior is very good, with no writing or marks, no foxing and the binding is sound.
