Originally published in 1999, this is the revised and exxtended edition, initially published in 2003.

Though apparently ex-library, this copy is virtually unused; bound in red library-quality buckram with white stamping (including Dewey decimal system call no.) Interior is clean and bright, except for first and last ten pages, which appear to have been printed on paper of somewhat lower quailty 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Ex-Library.

Attractive red leather binding with ribbed spine and decorative gold stamping; marbelized boards, endpapers, and edges. 8vo, xxxviii, 344 pages. Marbelized glazed paper portion of the cover, front and back, is intact, but crackled. Bumped corners 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First French edition, with an essay on Lister's life. Lister accompagnied Lord Portland as paid physician on his embassy to Paris. His account of the city is now a valuable source of information re: streets, public places, sights, natural curiosities, belle lettres, and daily life in Paris.
