Fascinating volume by RIBA essay medallist Duncan, explaining the context of much of the architectural dynamism of the 1920s and 30s. In VG order throughout. Clean and bright internally; attractive silver and red boards well preserved and protected with clear removable cover.

London, 1897. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Very well produced and extensively illustrated (but short-lived) architectural journal. Curiously bound in two parts, with Volume II (1897, index and p.1-480) largely in the first. Remainder of Volume II (p.481-576) is in second book, followed by p.1-232 of Volume III (1898). This is particularly scarce and may be complete to cessation of publication. Thereafter is included part of Volume I (1896, p.467-560). The binder was J Andrew & Sons of 53 Dantzic St, Manchester, so I suggest you take this up with them. Or indeed with the owner of the two parts, noted architect Ernest Bower Norris, whose signature and attractive bookplate adorn the endpapers of both volumes. Occasional minor foxing, moreso to early and late blanks, and a little toning to page edges, but in general good order otherwise. Green boards quite heavily worn with a fair amount of marking. A few paint marks to spine and rear board quite heavily distressed. London: The Architectural Review, 1954. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Volumes 116 to 132 of The Architectural Review, the very best of the UK's architecture monthlies. This is an excellent set, in near uniform bindings, and in VG order throughout bar small mark to spine of vol.125. This is NOT ex-library stock, so no stamps, labels, etc. Under the editorial direction of J M Richards, Nikolaus Pevsner, H de C Hastings, and Hugh Casson throughout, with, in the later issues, Ian Nairn as the excellently titled 'Assistant Editor (Counter-attack)', this really is a treasure trove of architectural interest, not least augmented by the illustrations of Gordon Cullen, Kenneth Browne and others. A heavy set of course, so please enquire re delivery arrangements.
