Cloth worn and with some evidence of water staining. Binding pulled across front joint, rear board pulling away at rear joint. Tanning/foxing to earliest and last pages.

Second edition, enlarged, "recording the architectural casualties suffered during the whole period of air bombardment 1940-45". Blue cloth-covered boards, red titles to spine, 199 pages plus Index. After a two-page Foreword, the book consists entirely of pages of photographs with extended captions. Condition notes: Dust jacket torn, soiled and ragged, with loss as well as remnants of amateur repair. Boards bumped, faded area to top inch or so of front board and bottom half inch, spine strip soiled. However the book is sound, and internally clean and unmarked, other than old price to front free end paper.

The Anniversary dates the book to 1912/1913. Brown paper-covered boards, titles on paper label to front board, 31 pages, decorated initial letters to chapters. Many photographs- the factory, the private goods railway station, employees etc etc. Folding panoramic view of the factory. A nicely-produced book, which leads early on with the challenging statement that "There is probably no more romantic or remarkable development inside commercial or industrial circles than that of Margarine". Condition notes: Boards and paper worn, chipped and rubbed. Internally clean, sound and bright.

London: John Fairburn, 1820. First Edition. No Binding. Poor/No Jacket. 501 8vo. Sub-title: "Being an account of places, pensions, and sinecures, the revenues of the clergy and landed aristocracy; the salaries and emoluments in courts of justice and the police department; the expenditure of the Civil List; the amount and application of the droits of the crown and admiralty; the robbery of charitable foundations; the profits of the Bank of England, arising from the issue of its notes, balances of public money, management of the borough debt, and other sources of emolument; the debt, revenue, and influence of the East-India company; the state of the finances, debt, and sinking-fund....... The whole forming a complete exposition of the cost, influence, patronage, and corruption of the Borough Government". A neat, presumably contemporary hand has listed on the first, blank leaf the members of the "New Parliament for 1827", both Peers and Commoners. Condition notes: For recasing; boards lost, with only a few inches of the spine strip remaining (and attached to the text block). Considerable foxing to title page, thereafter occasional spotting. Text block sound and complete. Previous owner's name and address to recto of last, blank leaf.

Title continues "And Administration of the Sacraments and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, According to the Use Of The Church Of England: Together With the Psalter or Psalms of David, Pointed as They are to be Sung or Said in Churches; and the Form and Manner of Making, Ordaining, and Consecrating, of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons". No printing date, but the table of dates for Easter starts at 1864 (other versions with no start date). Previous owner's name on paper label to front paste down, "E. Pym May 23rd 1879". Brown soft leather covers, gilt fore-edges, gilt titles to spine and front cover, front cover with blind-stamped decoration. Except for the Contents list and Preface, this copy is printed in a large, clear type face. Just octavo in size. Condition notes: Covers worn, with loss of bottom edge of spine strip and a small area of back cover. Previous owner's name to front paste down and a second, later to front free end paper. Joint frayed across front end papers, Binding slack but holding; overall a well-used but probably cared-for volume.

Scale 2 miles to one inch (from measurement of the scale). The map measures just over 35.5 inches by 47 inches (including margins) and the boards 9.5 by 8 inches. Undated, but contents suggest early 20th century; COPAC libraries give dates from 1906 to 1909. More photographs on request. Condition notes: Boards rubbed and bumped, with missing spine strip. Map in very good condition with just a small area of creasing to one corner, affecting margin area only (see photograph).
