Signed by the author with a gift inscription: "To David, who led me into the world of computers and how to use the word processor for the production of this book. With every good wish, Jim Rogers". Black dustjacket, black cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine, illustrations from photographs as well as diagrams, line drawings etc (both full page and in run of text), 217 pages. The author was transferred to Colditz after a nearly-successful tunnelling escape from another POW camp. As well as the title page signed dedication, there is the photocopy of a newspaper cutting left laid in, which has also been signed by the author ("Every good wish to you from Jim Rogers. For David Du Mee") and the front paste down has another signed newspaper cutting, also to David Du Mee, neatly pasted over it. Condition notes: Small nick to the top corner of the unclipped dust jacket (on the front), some more general wear to the back section of the dust jacket, with edge wear, and evidence of removed price sticker to the front flap. A little light wear to the boards.

A map folder cum entry permit for Kruger National Park has been stapled to the rear free end paper, with owner's details torn out.. Condition notes: Bumping to boards and a little soiling; internally, some age spotting to title page and last page but overall a firm, clean copy.

Brown cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine and spine with gilt and black decoration, folding map bound in opposite first page of main text, very many illustrations as full plates and in run of text, 718 pages, including an index giving pages of Biblical text illustrated. Condition notes: Boards somewhat soiled, edges rubbed/bumped, fore edges of text block soiled. Remnants of label of the library of (I think) Whitehaven Methodist Sunday School across end papers. In both cases, part-removal has caused some loss of surface to the dark green end papers. Map complete but with small tear along one fold, edges rolled and worn, foxing to verso of map and a little light foxing to recto. Plates all in very good condition, with clean tissue guards.

Inside covers and facing end papers age-darkened, some dust--spotting to external page edges, but paper otherwise clean and unmarked. Corners of text block curling.

Includes Measures of Time, with sections on the Gregorian, Hebrew and Mahometan Calendars. Countries (or other political entities then maintaining their own weights and measures systems and coinage) covered include Greece, Madras, Parma, Prussia, Roman States, Sardinia, and many others. Each section includes brief coverage of by-then obsolete units. Publisher's embossed green cloth-covered boards, remnants of paper label to spine, gilt titles to front board, publisher's advertisement to front and rear end papers, 206 pages followed by 16 pages of publisher's catalogue ("Weale's Series Rudimentary Scientific, Educational, and Classical") , then 32 pp of Crosby Lockwood's main catalogue. Condition notes: Boards faded, knocked and rubbed; binding pulled, especially at front end papers. Occasional pencil emphasis and notes here and there. Ink mark across fore edges. Light foxing here and there.

Produced by the Ministry of Labour (Great Britain) and each published individually by HMSO for the house of Commons. Each report has the stamp of H M Inspector of Factories, Norwich, to the title page. Some of the reports are illustrated with photographs. Condition notes: In excellent condition, inside and out. The reports are all unmarked except for the ownership stamp described above.
