The remainder of this section is concerned mainly with theological issues- the many heresies that sprang up in the early days of the Church, and an overview of the morality and way of life of early Christians. The last section covers the period from 313 AD to the end of the 7th Century and includes a discussion of the sacraments. Volume II treats chiefly of the work of the Church among Gemranic and Lav peoples until the 16th Century. As well as describing administrative structures the book has sometimes lively descriptions of the conversion of various of these peoples (or their refusal to be converted). Sects, heresies, religious orders. Volume III From Luther to the time of writing, including English catholicism, English protestantism and the French Revolution. Condition notes: Leather worn along hinge creases and on corners but gilt decoration in good condition, other than some wear to bottom edges. Sporadic foxing.
