The Power and the Glory

By Greene, Graham

Compass Books. Very Good. 1961. Paperback. Book number C-40, 8th printing. Black paper back with orange & yellow type and graphics. Reading and corner creases. Tight binding, former owners penciled name on fly leaf. Fourteen years after publication the Vatican asked Greene for a revision. Greene, a converted Catholic replied that the copyright was in the publishers hands and the issue was dropped. One of his best, in my humble opinion. The movie of the same title was released in 1961 and was directed by Marc Daniels. Staring Laurence Oliver as the priest, Julie Harris, his mistress and George C. Scott as the police lieutenant, the strong supporting cast included the likes of Patty Duke, Roddy McDowell, and James Coco who was uncredited. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
