Tan cloth on boards cover is in nice condition, min bu mps to corners, almost no other wear. No former owner's name on endpapers. A bit of finger crinkling from reading but text is clean and tight. Letchworth Herts: The Garden City Press Ltd, 1948 Soft Cover. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2. 160 pp. This is the second edition, revised and enlarged. With a foreword by Sire William Denis Battershill, Governor of Tanganyika. In the foreword it is stated that the bo ok is designed ".primarily to satisfy the demands of the visitor and to give some account of the country's natural resources." Chapter titles include: How to Come to Tanganyika; Travelling in Tangan yika - By Rail, By Air, By Car (list of Aerodraomes, main roads); Mountaineering, Big Game Shooting; Land and Land Settlement; Some Notes for Housewives; Short List of Books Dealing with Tanganyika an d others. Many b/w illustrations: villages, Mount Meru, Kilimonjaro, Masai Warriors, etc. Two marvelous oud-out mats 16 x 14 1/2 each - Game Distributuion and Game Reserves; Tanganyika territory and r oads. Cover is splendid vintage map. New mylar protector. Front and most of book in lovely cond. However, rear cover and last 30 pages have a one inch hole as if pierced by a lion's tooth, or shot by an errant bullet from a misguided hunter's shakey rifle. This flaw enhances the book's allure. An extraordinary book, clean and tight. This copy exceptionally imbued with a mysterious, romantic charm. Everything the travellor to East Africa in 1948 needed to know and then some.Overall cond: poor to Outstanding, depending on your perspective. A gem of a little book..


Tarzan and the Ant Men

N.Y.: Grosset & Dunlap, 1924 Hard Cover. 7 5/8 x 5 1/4. 346 pp. This is a Grosset and Dunlap edition, probably published in the 1940s. Red cloth on boards cover. b/w illlustration on frontpiece depicting Tarzan, long stick in han d, caption reads: Tarzan goes to battle with the Ant Men. Does not have title page paragraph refferring to war printin shortages. Has the original 1924 McClurg date of publication, not the Grosset and Dunlap date. Tarzan and the Ant Men was the 10th Tarzan book published. This copy has a bit of wear to ccorners. Min wear to edges. Some soiling to cover, but over all presents as a reasonably good c opy. no foxing. Endpapers are ivory; 2, inch long inked lines, otherwise good. A sturdy tight copy. Overall cond: good..

Dr. Palfrey has to fight for the freedom of the world from a take-over bid by militant feminists using a mysterious drug called silena. Dr. Palfrey also finds a love of his own in this story. Dustjacket has almost no wear. Previously protected by plastic now with a new mylar cover. Not price clipped. Very clean. Black textured paper on boards binding with bright gold lettering in very nice condition. Front free endpapers have a bit of adhesive residue staining but very minimal . Former owner's name. A wee coffe stain on edge of first two pages (not major flaw) Text is clean, unmarked, secure, no folds, creases tears. A very good copy of this book of adventure and intrigue.. HC and DJ. Good - V. Good/Near Fine. 7 3/4 x 5.
