Interview with David Cromer of Good Buy 2 You LLC

When did you get started in bookselling?
Officially in 2015 after 10 years of library work.
What drew you to bookselling?
A passion for reading from age four. Books have just excited me ever since.
Did you have any mentors in becoming a bookseller?
No, just seemed a comfortable progression from buying and cataloging for a Library to doing the same as a business.
What are your specialties as a dealer?
I gravitate toward popular nonfiction and recently some antique books.
What's the most amazing book you've ever sold?
I haven’t had that noteworthy one yet, but it was exciting to sell a five hundred dollar book in my first few months.
What is your favorite part of being a bookseller?
The constant discovery of new arrivals. I love the book sales and being able to scout for more treasures.
Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?
No. No plans to do so. I appreciate the freedom of not having one. Though there are drawbacks, but I couldn’t do what I do and have a brick and mortar as well.
What is your favorite bookshop (other than your own)?
A place from my childhood that got my money every week. It lives only in memory now.
What do you personally like to read? Collect?
I still like Dean Koontz. But I read anything that catches my interest. I don’t collect anymore. If I did I would be keeping everything and not being business anymore. Would probably end up on ”Hoarders”.
What's your favorite book you personally own? Would you sell it, if the price were right?
My collection was sold long ago. I’m willing to sell all of my books. I appreciate knowing others will enjoy them.
What one book would you buy if price were no object?
I’d have to go with a comic, Detective #1.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three books, what would they be?
The Secret Teachings of All Ages - Manly P Hall The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini Wilderness Survival for Dummies
