" John and Firelei, two orphans, wander into the deserted streets of Old Town on Hallowe'en night. There, Pete, the Frozen Man, mistakes them for his own long-lost children, and takes them across the lake to his home. Before they get home again, the children have magical adventures, and go through the door in the mountain to the Valley At The Edge Of Time and finally bring back Pete's son and daughter.

Toronto: T. Eaton Co.. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. The stated publisher is Eaton's, but this is obviously a reprint of a popular British annual though I've no idea of which one. The interior of the book is in very decent condition, with clean pages and occasional signs of previous wear. The fourteen colour plates are present. The illustrated covers, however, show significant edgewear, and the spine is heavily worn, discoloured, and has a 2.5 inch split at the bottom left hinge. Overall, a shabby copy of an interesting Eaton's item. The authors include Ethel Talbot, Katharine Tynan, Jessie Leckie Herbertson, and Katharine L. Oldmeadow.
