Description:
Toronto: Patons & Baldwins / Beehive. Soft cover. Very Good. The interior of the book is clean and fresh, with no marks or damage, and few signs of previous use. The paper covers are also in very good condition. The front cover has a former owner's name in the top right hand corner and some minor edgewear. The back panel is white, and shows light handling. Synopsis: This is a short (64 pages) introduction to knitting for children, combining instruction (casting on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, slip stitch, etc.) with patterns for dolls clothes, simple accessories (pram cover, hot water bottle cover), and hats, mitts and sweaters for girls. The age of the book is difficult to determine, as "Steps to Knitting" seems to have been reissued in different formats over the years. In this case, there is no publication date given in the book, but the illustrations seem to be in the style of the 1930s or 1940s.
