This 5 13/16" x 8 1/2", 376 page hardcover is encased in clear plastic and fits easily into its original brown board slipcase. Overall, the book is FINE: top edges stained auburn, outer edges have light foxing, cover = 1/4 brown cloth over patterned ivory boards, with author's signature in gold gilt on front, particulars in gold gilt on spine. Original slipcase is VERY GOOD: Entire, with separated fold on bottom and small amount of chipping. Printed statement of Limited authenticity on first fep, along with No. 246 and author's signature. A definite COLLECTOR'S ITEM.

Osgood & Co., in the Office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington." "Sherman & Co., Printers, Phila." 5 1/2" x 7 3/4", 593 pages of tiny type, and assorted sketches by the author. "Author's Edition" and graphic design stamped in black on the red cloth boards, with details on spine in gold gilt. Condition = VERY GOOD, with first few pages detached, rest attached, slight age tanning, no internal marks, chipping to top and bottom of spine, 2 small white stains on front cover. Noted appraiser James Beattie has valued this copy at $35.00

Top edges colored charcoal. Book is sharp and tight. Cover = Green 1/4 cloth over pink and cream designed boards, particulars in white on spine only. ORIGINAL UNCLIPPED DUST JACKET (1/2 green with creme design, 1/2 black and white; review clips along with particulars on front). Jacket condition is Very Good Minus, with significant chipping to top and bottom of spine, yet whole and clear. Noted appraiser JAMES BEATTIE assigns a value of $40 to this book.
