Description:
Signed by the author with a dedication to publisher/Sci-Fi fan, Julius Unger. First edition hardcover, published by Fantasy Press, 1948. No dust jacket. The dedication reads; 'To Julius Unger, With My Very Best Regards, Edward E. Smith, Ph.d'. Julius Unger was a founding member of The Scienceers, which was the first known Sci-Fi fanclub, and a member of the committee for the First Worldcon. He also published several fanzines including FFF Fanewscard. 5" X 7-1/2", blue cloth covered boards, 247 pages. Author's name and title imprinted on the spine. This copy has foxing spots on the paste down pages, ffep, title page, and back end papers and paste down. Some fading to the spine, though all lettering is intact and legible. Very little wear to the boards besides the fading. The binding is straight and tight. A dot of a pencil mark squiggle on the first flyleaf, top right corner, covering an old price.
