Intended for children, a collection of (mostly) traditional Gaelic nursery rhymes, sayings and jingles. Text in Gaelic, no English translation. No dustwrapper, minor wear to the spine ends and corners of red cloth-covered boards, otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover adventure story for boys. Originally published in 1920, the story involves a round-the-World race by Airships, including a British one (the ''Golden Hind'' of the title) and a WW1 Zeppelin crewed by the beastly Huns (!). Illustration on front board shows a boy being lifted by rope, presumably by the airship; spine illustration shows a front view of a steamship. 256pp, b&w frontispiece.. Hard Cover. No dustwrapper, minor wear to spine ends and corners of green boards, oval illustration on front board is missing (would have had a picture of Alice and the White Rabbit), old pencil scribblings on front endpaper where a child has written numbers against the figures in the picture, these have been rubbed out but the marks remain, unfortunately. Some minor foxing to page edges, binding just starting to give way at pp106-107 and to a lesser extent at pp174-75 and pp262-63. Ex library copy with quite a bad mark on f/ep where a paper label has been torn off, ink stamp on title page and first page of text, a mark inside back cover where sellotape has been pulled off, and similarly on inner rear flap of dustwrapper where some of the printing thereon is lost. The book does smell a bit of being kept in a shed or garage, but this should fade. Minor creasing to edges of dustwrapper and slight bumping to spine ends and corners of dark red boards, but otherwise a not too bad, tight copy of this slim hard-cover book. A story for children about a boy who finds an orphaned baby kangaroo and keeps it as a pet. He has to leave it when his father takes a job in the City, but things work out alright in the end for the kangaroo. Originally published in Swedish as "Astrid Lindgren - Vildtoring och lägereld " in 1992, this is a later English-language edition, here translated by Eivor Cormack. No publication date given, but was a school prize in 1907 (''for Diligence in her Classes''). So a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover Victorian novel for children. The story, set in Yorkshire, involves strange goings-on at an old battlefield. Originally published in 1948, this is an adventure story set in the 1820s dealing with a boy who finds himself sailing on a slave ship. Contains text and picture stories based on the television Western series "Bronco" starring Ty Harding which ran from 1958 to 1962.
