Very slight creasing to edges of unclipped dustwrapper, minor bumping to corners of black boards, both the two sections of b&w plates have some spotted markings from where the pages have become stuck together and eased apart again, more so the first section, but with no real damage to the pictures. But otherwise a good clean tight copy of this hard-cover book containing selections from the author's writings on nature, shooting, fishing and similar topics, taken from his many books and from newspaper and magazine articles, and includes a short story "Gone Away", never before published. The author, previously a news reporter and later a writer and artist, died in December 2017. His account of nine winters (1970s-1980s) spent at remote Cockley Beck in the remote Duddon Valley (or Dunnerdale) in the Lake District . 141pp, small b&w drawings at chapter heads.
