Elegantly rebound in 1/2 leather with marbled boards, matching marbled EPs, raised bands spine, untrimmed text block. The book is in nice condition with no previous owner marks or writing on any pages (NOT ex-library), clean, minor rubbing to spine ribs and extreme tips of corners, solid binding, small foxing spots on a few preliminary and a few final pages otherwise most pages are free of foxing, complete with all pages and folding map at page 364. The book measures 230mm tall x 155mm, and has 364 pages, many b/w illustrations, large folding map, 24 pages of publisher's book advertisements dated 1894 at end starting with publisher's list of available catalogues (index on verso) followed by ads starting with Abbot's History of Greece. Rebound in dark brown calf with gilt lettering and bands spine, raised bands spine forming 5 compartments, new brown EPs. Red seminary library stamp on title page. No other library marks on any pages. Clean covers, missing much of the gilt in the spine littering, sold binding, complete with short-ttile page and with four pages of publisher's ads at end. Title page is heavily embrowned and has a tideline. Subsequent 30 pages have increasingly faint tideline in upper outside corner. Pages 161 to 176 have heavy embrowning. Most other pages are bright but some have light scattered foxing (not heavy). The book measures 222mm tall x 150mm, and has 492 + [4] pages, b/w frontispiece. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
