Blue stapled wrappers printed in white and gold, b/w illustrations from photographs throughout. Light extremity wear. Program from the 1956 AWTAR, which began at the San Mateo County Airport, in San Mateo, California, and ended at Bishop Airport, in Flint, Michigan. The race included 50 pilots, many but not all of whom flew with co-pilots; short bios and pictures of each pilot and her co-pilot (where applicable) are included here, along with brief articles on the airports and locations at each end of the race, handicapping, the challenge of the race itself, etc.Scarce. OCLC locates only five institutions that hold any of the series of programs, and none appear to have this one.

Minor wear to edges, else fine. Four promotional brochures advertising Dual parking meters, "The Best Answer to the Traffic Control Problem." Included are: "Dual Automatic"; "Dual Gearshift Automatic"; "Metered Parking"; and "Off-Street Metered Parking". The Dual Parking Meter Company, supposedly named because the meters could both measure parking time and collect fees, was founded in 1935 in Oklahoma City by Carl Magee, who invented the automatic parking meter. Long pencil notation to verso, presumably detailing a streetcar trip in San Francisco ("Up Market, down Van Ness -- [Outer?] zone -- down Zone. avenue to aviation field -- around field -- many pictures. Art stood all way"). Slight crease near one corner, else remarkably well-preserved. A rare promotional piece for Silas Christofferson and the Christofferson Aircraft Manufacturing Co., advertising aviation as "a safe and sane sport". Free exhibitions were offered daily "at the beach," presumably near the Christofferson hangar on Ocean Drive at Sloat Boulevard.
